A life that may not have been.

Sophie made her first appearance in "Vee" as as a rather outspoken eight year old girl who charmed the young Vera Potter who was eating alone in an hotel restaurant.   All in all it was a piece of good fortune that she did as, within a day or so, Vera had almost certainly saved Sophie's life, putting her own at considerable risk in doing so.   This is one of the ways that lasting friendships begin.   Sophie's life has many twists and turns and it is not because of the close shave that she became known as Sophie Lucky and not her real name of Baldwyn.

The main characters

Sophie Baldwyn Began life as a pretty normal child, though she always has a feeling that she was something of a replacement for her elder brother Gavin who was killed during the second world war.   Whilst outgoing and a little bit noisy, she is also a deep thinker.

Vera Potter A true one off of a human being.   In her earliest days Vera was left in a basket on the steps of a children's home a few years before the outbreak of the second world war.   She has always been strong minded and a tad rebellious.   She is a person that has a kind heart who most certainly lives life by her own set of rules.
